Special ccTLD Requirements

What is ccTLD?

The Country-Code Top-Level Domains are an Internet top-level domains used or reserved for a country, a sovereign state or a dependent territory, for examle:

.us - the ccTLD for The United States Of America;
.fr - the ccTLD for France;
.ru - the ccTLD for Russia;

Some of them has special manage and register requirements. You can read here what some of the central registrars require from the Customers:

.fi - the ccTLD for Finland is managed by the Finnish communications regulatory authority (FICORA). All of the .fi domains can be registered only by them. In ClouDNS, you can host your .fi DNS zone.
According to FICORA, the name servers of the domain at the registrar must match the NS records in the DNS Zone.
Example:
You have NS records in the DNS zone, as follow:
yourdomain.fi 3600 IN NS ns1.yourDNShost.com
yourdomain.fi 3600 IN NS ns2.yourDNShost.com

The name servers at the domain's registrar must be pointed also to ns1.yourDNShost.com and ns2.yourDNShost.com.

.de - the ccTLD for Germany is managed by DENIC, the german regulatory for all of .de domains. With ClouDNS, you can register/transfer .de domain. The situation is the same as this one with the .fi domains - the name servers of the domain at the registrar must match the NS records in the DNS Zone.
Example:
You have NS records in the DNS zone, as follow:
yourdomain.de 3600 IN NS ns1.yourDNShost.com
yourdomain.de 3600 IN NS ns2.yourDNShost.com

The name servers at the domain's registrar must be pointed also to ns1.yourDNShost.com and ns2.yourDNShost.com.

.uk - the ccTLD for The United Kingdom is managed by Nominet, the british regulatory for the .uk domain. With ClouDNS, you can register/transfer .uk domain. The main peculiarity is that if the Customer wants to register .uk domain (for example - yourdomain.uk), she or he must check first if yourdomain.co.uk is free. If yourdomain.co.uk is registered, yourdomain.uk is reserved for the owner of yourdomain.co.uk.

.es - the ccTLD for Spain is managed by ESNIC, the spanish regulatory for the .es domain. With ClouDNS, you can register/transfer .es domain. The distinctive feature of the .es domains are certain rules that apply for the usage of Child name servers. A Child name server of these domains can use only 1 IPv4 address and there is no support for IPv6 addresses. Also, once created an .es Child name server cannot be deleted, it can only be edited.
