DNS Backups

What does "zone backups" mean?

Backups provide a daily copy of your zones and all their settings for the past 30 days. You can check, download, and restore individual zones from each daily backup.

How to enable or disable the service?

The zone backups service can be managed directly from the Dashboard page within the DNS Hosting section. Next to the "available name servers" button, you will find a button named "backups". Clicking this button redirects you to the subscription page, where you can enable the service.

From the same page, you also have the option to disable the service and revoke cancellation at any time.

What exactly is the service and what does it do?

After enabling the backup feature, you can view all stored data either by using the same control button or by navigating directly to it via /list-dns-backups/. Note that if you enable backups today, the first available snapshot will appear starting tomorrow. However, if a zone is deleted, a backup entry will be created immediately.

The following screenshot shows an example of how the backups page might look. On the left side is the date, on the right side is the number of zones you have backup for:

Deleted zones

After clicking on the option for deleted zones, a new page will open displaying all zones that have been removed. This page includes information such as the zone name, deletion date, any notes you may have added, its status (active or paused), and more. Most importantly, there is a restore button on the right-hand side of each entry, allowing you to recover the deleted zone quickly and easily.

You can always click on a specific zone to view the DNS records it contains.

However, keep in mind that for slave zones, the records will not be displayed — only the primary servers you have added will be shown.

Backup zones by date

When you click on a selected date, you are redirected to a separate page that displays a list of all zones for which a backup was created on that specific date. From that page, you will again have access to the restore option, as well as to all settings you previously configured for the zone, not just the DNS records.

You can always click on any zone to view the DNS records it contains.

How much does this feature cost?

The pricing for this service depends on your existing hosting plan. Costs typically start at $2 and increase based on the specific features and limits of your plan. Higher-tier plans may have higher backup costs depending on usage and included services.
