At ClouDNS, we offer two easy and quick methods for adding/transferring all DNS records from your zone in the current DNS hosting provider. The first method is by importing a zone file. The second method, which will be explained in this article, is zone import via zone transfer. After clicking the button, you will see the two options we mentioned earlier. You should select "Import via Transfer".
Once you have created a DNS zone with us and entered your domain name, the next step is to import all existing records. At the top of the Zone management page, you will see a button labeled "Zone Import". It is located between the "Zone Shares" and "Export Zone File".
First, you will see a blue info box displaying one or a few IP addresses. These IP addresses need to be added to your current DNS provider to allow the zone transfer to our servers. Below the info box, there is an input field where you need to enter the IP address of one of the current name servers used in your DNS zone. After that, click the "Get All Records" button.
If the transfer is successful, within a few minutes, all the records will appear in the pop-up list below the orange button. You will have the option to select all or only specific records, as well as delete any of them if needed. At the very bottom, below the list of records, a new button will appear labeled "Import the Selected Records". After clicking that button, the pop-up will close and all selected records will be transferred directly into your DNS zone with us.
