When a domain's Top-Level Domain (TLD) differs from the TLD of its configured Name Servers, some DNS validation tools may report that the parent Name Servers are not returning glue records for all listed Name Servers. In such cases, the parent only provides the hostnames of the Name Servers, without including their corresponding IP (A) records
This behavior is expected and is a normal part of DNS operations in cross-TLD configurations. For example, if a domain such as example.com
uses a Name Server like ns1.example.org
, the .com
TLD Name Servers will not provide glue records for the .org
Name Servers, as they are not authoritative for .org
domains.
As a result, DNS resolvers must independently query the .org
TLD to resolve the IP address of ns1.example.org
. This additional lookup is standard and does not affect DNS resolution performance or reliability.
This is not an error or misconfiguration. The domain’s setup is correct, and the absence of glue records in this context does not indicate a problem.
